The Songwriting Camp is a project that brings together Slovak and international producers, composers, lyricists, and performers in one place. Its goal is to combine the creative potential of both Slovak and international authors, while providing them with space to create new musical works. This is not a traditional workshop, but rather a unique blend of creative collaboration between domestic and foreign artists.The Songwriting Camp is an excellent opportunity for authors to connect with other professional artists while also focusing on their own work. As a result, each participant leaves with new repertoire of their own, or having contributed to someone else's.
The SOZA Songwriting Camp is the very first songwriting camp in Slovakia. The idea for its creation emerged in 2023 in collaboration with the Czech organization Song Empire, which has been organizing similar events in the Czech Republic since 2018.
Participants of the camp are required to collaborate and create at least one new song each day. The actual songwriting process takes place in small teams of 3–4 people, led by a producer. Teams are reshuffled daily. At the beginning of each day, authors are assigned to teams that work together throughout the day. At the end of each day, short group listening sessions are held, where participants present the songs they created. By the end of the camp, each participant leaves with new musical material.
The Songwriting Camp is held in the picturesque setting of the Liptovský Dvor Hotel in Liptovský Ján. The main partner of the camp is DISK Multimedia, which provides participants with musical and audio equipment for creating their works.
The date of the next SOZA Songwriting Camp will be announced by the end of March 2026. Participant selection will take place from March until the end of August 2026. The co-organizer of the event, Song Empire, led by musician, author, and songwriter Ján Vávra, is responsible for selecting the participants.
Prospective participants can apply by emailing pr@soza.sk. Upon receiving the email, SOZA will forward the application to Song Empire, whose representative will decide on the applicant’s acceptance.
All applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application no later than the end of August.
Participants do not pay any registration fee, and all accommodation and meal costs are covered by SOZA. They are only responsible for their travel expenses to and from the camp location. SOZA will arrange transport from Bratislava to Liptovský Ján and back.
